The Oak Ridge High School girls basketball team had a tough week.

Things, however, ended on a high note for the Lady Wildcats, who were able to snap a two-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon.

Oak Ridge, one of the host schools in the 5Star Preps Hoop Jam, held Friday and Saturday, ended the weekend with a 64-41 victory over Maryville at Wildcat Arena.

Euleesha Mitchell scored 22 points to help Oak Ridge avenge last season’s season-ending loss to the Lady Rebels in the first round of the Region 2-AAA Tournament.

Jenna Johnson scored 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds, and Ayana Porter finished with 13 points.

On Friday, the Lady Wildcats (6-2) dropped a 59-44 decision to Stone Memorial on the opening night of the tournament.

Mitchell scored 13 points for Oak Ridge, while Johnson finished with 11.

The Lady Wildcats suffered a 62-37 loss to the host Lady Raiders in Cleveland on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

ORHS Coach Paige Taylor said the effort at Cleveland wasn’t its best.

“We lost and we didn’t play very well,” she said. “But it was a game that we can learn from.”

Oak Ridge played at Sevier County on Tuesday, but results were not available at press time.
