National Signing Day was busy across the Volunteer State on Wednesday, Feb. 7 and several area high school football players officially announced their plans to continue their athletic careers and further their respective educations at the next level.

Anderson County’s senior running back and linebacker Nick Moog had his signing ceremony last week as he final plans to play at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Moog said that he is excited to be moving on to play at the NAIA school in Williamsburg.

“It was a long process,” Moog said. “I’ve been thinking about where I wanted to go since I was little.

“What really pushed me is (that) I went up on a visit there, and I really fell in love with the campus and the coaching staff, and of course, I love to play football.”

Moog also said that he was planning to pursue a degree in sports medicine and noted that he’s glad to have the recruiting process in the rear view mirror.

“A lot of stress is gone. I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t overlooked and I wanted to make sure that I was where I wanted to be, and of course, you have the schooling,” he said. “I loved the campus up there,

“It’s right on the mountain and the insides of the buildings have all been renovated, but outside, it has the old look and that’s really cool.”
