CHS, ACHS softball start play at Panama City tournament

Spring is in the air and softball season began for all three local high school teams early this week, while area students were away for spring break.

Clinton and Anderson County both opened their respective 2024 campaigns at the Bash at the Beach in Panama City, Florida. Tournament play opened Monday and continues through Thursday.

The Lady Mavericks host Maryville in their home opener on Monday at 5:30 p.m.. On Tuesday, ACHS hosts Grace Christian Academy at 5:30. The Lady Mavs will be at Coalfield on Thursday,

The Lady Dragons will be at Coalfield Monday before playing Knoxville Halls at home on Wednesday, March 21.

First pitchis scheduled for 6 p.m.



Lady Wildcats begins Gill Era



Oak Ridge starts a new era on the softball diamond this week as Jeremy Gill begins his first season as the Lady Wildcats’ head coach.

Oak Ridge opened its season Tuesday night as it hosted McMinn Central (results were not available at press time).

The Lady Wildcats continue their season-opening homestand Thursday as they host Campbell County in an early season District 3-4A contest. Oak Ridge entertains Lenoir City on Monday and plays Knoxville Halls on Tuesday in another league game.

First pitch for all three games is slated for 6 p.m.

Lady Senators dominate in season opener



Norris Middle School’s softball team opened its 2024 season with a 14-1 victory over Oliver Springs on Monday, March 4.

The Lady Senators put this one away early as they scored five runs in the first inning and added eight more in the second. They plated one last run in the third.

Styla Tindell, Izzy Aulisio and Alice Ogan were the stars at the plate for Norris against the Lady Bobcats.

Tindell went 1-for-1 with a double, four RBIs, two runs and a stolen base, while Aulisio went 1-for-1 with two runs, a pair of RBIs, a double and a stolen base.

Ogan went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs, a pair of stolen bases in an RBI.
