Oak Ridge splits series with Central

After splitting its home-and-home District 3-4A series against Knox Central early last week, the Oak Ridge High School baseball team also won one of its two non-district tilts.

On Wednesday, April 3, the Wildcats topped Clinton 8-4 at Jaycee Park.

Richie Ferriera went 2-for-3. He recorded two hits, including a double, and had two runs and two RBIs.

Peyton Witter, who picked up the win on the mound for the Wildcats, also singled and drove in a run at the plate.

He pitched four innings and gave up four runs (three earned), two hits and four walks, while striking out five Clinton hitters.

Mikee Teasley went 1-for-3 and scored a run, while Warren East singled, drove in one run and scored another.

John Ulerich also appeared on the mound for the Wildcats. He threw three innings and gave up three hits and one walk. He struck out two Dragons.

On Friday, the Wildcats dropped an 8-7 decision against Maryville. It was their second loss to the Rebels this season.

Kam Welch was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Oak Ridge, which outhit Maryville 10-9.

Ferriera went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Witter was 2-for-4 and drove in a run.

Parker Free went 1-for-4 and scored two runs. He also had an RBI.

Teasley was 1-for-2. He walked, stole two bases and scored three times.Alex Franklin was 1-for-1. He doubled, drove in

a run and scored another.

On Monday, April 1, the Wildcats defeated Central 5-4 at home. They lost, 3-2, on the road on the following day.
