Anderson County closed out a busy week on the softball diamond by qualifying for the District 4-AAA tournament.

The Lady Mavericks earned their way into the postseason by notching a 15-5 victory over Cumberland Gap in a game Friday night at ACHS.

That victory was Anderson County’s fourth win of the week and earned the Lady Mavericks a first-round date with top-seeded Gibbs in Corryton in a game on Monday night. Results were not available at press time.

ACHS (12-21) fell behind the Lady Panthers 3-0 in the top of the first inning.

The Lady Mavericks, however, would respond quickly as they scored four runs in the bottom of the frame.

They would go on to add two runs in both the third and fourth innings before scoring one in the fifth, closing the game out early with six runs in the bottom of the sixth.
