Clinton High School’s softball team celebrated Senior Night by storming back into the win column Monday.

The Lady Dragons (21-13 overall, 6-3 in District 4-AAA) routed Oliver Springs 12-3 after erupting for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. Clinton tacked on another run in the second frame to build an 8-0 lead, and never looked back.

“We went through our midseason lull, and tonight the girls showed up to play,” Clinton Coach Leonard Sams said. “We hit the ball well tonight, we had a lot of walks, and we were able to cash those in. And defensively, we played pretty well. We didn’t have many errors.”

Mandy Chambers doubled and scored twice against the Lady Bobcats. Lynnlee Adkins went 1-for-2 with four RBIs. Bryana Holt was 1-for-3, driving in one run and scoring another.

Elizabeth Graham finished 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Taylor Sherwood walked and crossed the plate twice.

On Tuesday, April 22, the Lady Dragons suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of Union County.

“We just came out and didn’t play well,” Sams said. “We played flat. People forget that we have a young team, and they’ll get it together.”

Bishop went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, and scored Clinton’s lone run. Adkins also doubled, and Tegan Bunch contributed an RBI double for the Lady Dragons.
