The Lady Dragons won 24 games, but their campaign ended just short of a fourth-straight regional berth.
They were eliminated by crosstown rival Anderson County 12-2 in five innings last week at Clinton High School.
Senior Lynlee Adkins closed out her career with two hits and two RBIs against the Lady Mavericks.
Fellow senior Taylor Sherwood walked and scored in her final game. Sara Bishop singled and scored for Clinton (24-16), which opened the District 4-AAA tournament with a win over Scott on Monday, May 5.
Clinton also notched a 9-8 walk-off victory over Union County. McKenley Osborne delivered the game-winning hit with a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning. She finished with two hits, a run, two RBIs and a stolen base.
Bishop had two hits, including a home run. Sherwood doubled and drove in two runs. Elizabeth Graham singled, scored three times and drew two walks. Adkins added a double.
Bryana Holt went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Norah Elliott singled and had an RBI.
The Lady Dragons also fell to Anderson County earlier in the tournament, 9-4, on Wednesday.
Sherwood doubled and drove in a run. Adkins had two hits, including a double.
Bishop went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Holt singled and drove in a run.
Clinton Coach Leonard Sams remained upbeat.
“We have a lot of people coming back,” Sams said.
“It took all we had against Union County, and after that game, we were just dead and our pitchers were tired.
“We’re a young team. I think people forget how young we are,” he said.
“We have five freshmen on the field at any given time.”
