Dragons soccer falls to Gibbs in semifinals

Clinton High School’s boys soccer team saw its 2025 season come to a close in the District 4-AAA tournament.

The Dragons, who finished the campaign with a 4-7 record, were eliminated after a 6-0 semifinal loss to top-seeded Gibbs on Monday, May 5, at Ernest Whited Stadium in Corryton.

Gibbs went on to win the tournament title with a 5-1 victory over Scott on Wednesday, May 7.

Clinton advanced to the semifinals after notching a 2-0 win over Union County in a district quarterfinal match played Thursday, May 1.

In that contest, Osmar Vasquez and Angel Venegas scored for the Dragons, who avenged a 2-1 regular-season loss to the Patriots on April 22.

Goalkeeper Ben Tackett made several key saves in the shutout victory to help preserve Clinton’s postseason hopes.

“It was a good win for us,” Dragons Coach Filip Leander said.
