Ward, Taylor medal in TMSAA Championships

Local middle school track and field athletes closed out their season Saturday at the Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association state championships at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville.

Clinton Middle School eighth-grader Michael Ward Jr. earned a runner-up finish in the boys shot put, with a mark of 46 feet.

Norris Middle School distance standout Ella Taylor competed in both the girls 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs.

She placed third in the 1,600, crossing the finish line in 5 minutes, 36.92 seconds. Taylor took sixth-place in the 800 with a time of 2:33.55.

Jefferson Middle School’s Allison Rodabaugh finished eighth in the girls high jump, posting a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches.

The Lady Eagles’ 4x400-meter relay team placed eighth with a time of 4:24.51. Their 4x200-meter relay squad finished 13th in 1:54.86.
