Letter to the Editor
To the editor:
This letter is written in support of Commissioner Josh Anderson, who is running for mayor of Anderson County. A fourth-generation Anderson Countian, he is well known throughout the area, and people know he is devoted to this community and its people. He has worked tirelessly as a commissioner and as the chair of the commission and has served on many boards, committees, and organizations. He is fiscally conservative and budget-wise, believes in limited government and transparency, supports good public education for everyone, and is always available to his constituents.
There have been a few letters in this paper recently on a variety of subjects that ventured into name-calling, finger-pointing, and complaints about people not being “legitimate.” This angry divisiveness is a reflection of what’s also happening in the rest of the country: we have been pitted against one another and have turned our neighbors into the enemy. I would hope that we could do better than dismissing people out of hand because we don’t believe they are part of OUR group, organization, etc. One of the best things about Josh Anderson is that he will be a mayor for ALL the people of this county – not just a select group. We desperately need that kind of leadership right now.
