Anderson County nets 16 goals in three-match week

The week ended on a sour note, however, as Kingston edged the Lady Mavericks 2-1 on Friday night.
“That was not the way that we wanted to end the week,” ACHS Coach Chris Curtin said. “Kingston has a good team and they move the ball well, so I don’t want to take anything away from them. They did a good job.”
On Thursday, Anderson County rolled past Scott 9-0 in a District 4-AA match that was shortened by the TSSAA mercy rule. The Lady Mavericks benefited from an early own goal by the Lady Highlanders.
Roxana Aguilar scored four times in the win, while Jocelyn Amos added two goals. Lily Trent and Delila Colby also tallied for Anderson County.
The Lady Mavericks opened the week Tuesday, Sept. 9, with a 7-0 victory over crosstown rival Clinton.
Kaili Villalba, who later had Anderson County’s lone goal against Kingston, netted two goals against Clinton.
Megan Shock added a goal and an assist in the rivalry win. Millie and Kate Swisher each scored for ACHS, while Trent and Colby also found the back of the net. Kinlee Swisher was credited with an assist.
