Dragons keep stacking PRs at Oak Ridge course

As the 2025 high school cross country season moves along, Clinton High School Coach Tim Kumes continues to be impressed by both of his teams.

The Dragons and Lady Dragons competed Saturday at The Mounds Meet No. 1 in Oak Ridge, one of East Tennessee’s newest courses.

Clinton’s boys entered three runners.

Junior Cooper Bostrom led the way, finishing the 5,000-meter race in 17 minutes, 53.37 seconds to place 22nd. Freshman Baylor Cool came in 41st at 18:48.12, while Tyler Gomez finished 153rd in 23:48.38.

“Cooper finished in under 18 minutes and that was big for him,” Kumes said. “Baylor ran well, but we’ve got to work on strategy with him. Tyler did well, too. The only thing I wish I had was more people. These guys and girls keep putting up a PR every time they run.”

Clinton was without two of its top boys, Caleb Holt and Max Bostrom, who missed the meet due to prior commitments.

On the girls’ side, Lily West clocked 23:50.10 to take 39th, while Piper Bostrom placed 57th in 25:21.25.
