Clinton Middle halts skid with 14-6 victory

The Clinton Middle School football team found its way back into the win column last week.

The Hawks (1-5 overall, 1-4 in the Tennessee Valley Athletic Conference) snapped a five-game losing streak with a 14-6 victory over Robertsville on Thursday night.

“When we play well on the offensive and defensive line, we do well,” Clinton Coach Eric Woodard said. “And we played well up front.”

Levi Braden scored both touchdowns for Clinton. He returned a punt 40 yards to open the scoring and later added a 10-yard rushing touchdown.

Braden also caught a pass from Westin Glandon on a two-point conversion, and intercepted a pass on defense.

Caleb Monroe threw a touchdown pass for the Rams (0-5, 0-5).

“We’ve just got to keep getting better and we’ve got to go back to work,” Robertsville Coach Tyler Carr said. “In life, you have to fight through things when they don’t go your way.”
