Greenhalgh paces Wildcats in opener
Oak Ridge High School was the last area team to open its cross country season, and the Wildcats and Lady Wildcats made their debut Saturday on their home course at The Mounds.
For the boys, senior Mason Greenhalgh won the race, crossing the line in 15 minutes, 51.87 seconds.
He was one of three Wildcats to notch top-10 finishes. Rhett Hovater claimed third in 16:26.86, while William Hetrick finished ninth at 17:12.11.
Nolan Riden came in 17th (17:36.86) and Patrik Vodopivec took 19th (17:40.36).
On the girls’ side, Dylan Job led the Lady Wildcats with a fifth-place finish in 19:49.01. Natalie Adams was seventh (21:01.33), followed by Kenda Hurt in ninth (21:28.10) and Amaijah Bishop in 10th (21:32.12). Elly Hartman rounded out the team’s strong showing with a 13th-place finish at 21:36.85.
