“We will hold this market Saturday, then take a break and hopefully start an indoor market at the Clinton Community Center for the fall and winter,” market co-founder Maggie Hanson said.
Last week, she said she and her partner Matthew Garafolo, who together started this year’s new version of the Clinton market, are still talking with the city to work out details of the possible indoor sessions.
Vendors in the recent markets have included Hill View Farm’s “produce bus,” along with others selling locally raised pork, beef and lamb; fresh baked goods and sweets; embroidered shirts and other non-food goods; handcrafted art; locally made hot sauces and spices; tallow products, and more.
At least 14 vendors and a steady stream of customers turned out on Thursday, Sept. 11, for the first market session of this month, which was held this time under the Green Bridge on Riverside Drive.
Because of construction that shut down part of Main Street, the farmers market held the Sept. 11 session on Riverside Drive, rather than going back to the new city parking lot on North Main Street at North Hicks Street, where it was held in early August.
Garafolo and Hanson, who operate a Clinton sheep farm, created the new market this year after the previous market operators decided not to return for 2025.
The inaugural session was held May 24, also at the fairgrounds. There have been two sessions a month this season.
