Lady Wildcats net district sweep
It was another week of mixed results for the Oak Ridge High School volleyball team.
The Lady Wildcats closed the week Thursday night with a District 3-AAA sweep of Knoxville Halls, defeating the Lady Devils 25-10, 28-26, 25-5.
Oak Ridge also picked up a non-district win Wednesday, Sept. 17, topping Knoxville West in four sets after opening the week with a straight-sets loss at Powell (25-12, 25-22, 25-18).
First-year head coach Meghan Ellis said she hopes her squad can find consistency as the 2025 regular season winds down.
“We need to be more consistent,” Ellis said. “We’ve had problems with our consistency, but I think our girls are starting to get it together. I think we’ll be where we want to be at the right time when the district tournament starts.
“The game against Powell wasn’t a good game for us. We lost in three over there and it was a quick match. All three of our matches last week were quick, even the game against West that we won in four sets.”
