Wildcats, Lady Wildcats bound for state meet

Both Oak Ridge High School cross country teams have earned berths in the TSSAA Class AAA state championships.

The 2025 season will culminate Friday when the state meet is held at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis.

Both the Wildcats and Lady Wildcats secured their trips to West Tennessee after finishing third at the Section 2-AAA championships on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Victor Ashe Park in Northwest Knoxville.

For the Oak Ridge boys, senior Mason Greenhalgh led the way with a third-place finish, clocking 16 minutes, 11.83 seconds. Rhett Hovater also notched a top-10 performance, finishing ninth in 16:45.73.

William Hetrick came in 22nd (17:36.78), followed closely by Julien Kelley in 23rd (17:38.09) and Ben Greear in 24th (17:44.84).

The Lady Wildcats also turned in a solid team effort, with two runners placing in the top 10. Amaijah Bishop finished seventh (20:04.49), while Dylan Job crossed in 10th (19:40.49). Kenda Hurt (21:07.04) and Brooke Roessner (21:01.99) placed 14th and 15th, respectively, and Natalie Adams rounded out the scoring with a 23rd-place finish (21:49.76).
