Machleit earns
associate’s degree
Katelyn Marie Machleit of Oak Ridge earned an associate of arts degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus in summer 2025.
Machleit was among approximately 3,800 students worldwide who earned degrees during the summer term. The University of Maryland Global Campus is located in Adelphi, Maryland.
Greer graduates magna cum laude
Brianna Greer of Oak Ridge graduated magna cum laude from Berea College, earning a bachelor of science in technology and applied design. Her degree was conferred May 15.
Berea College is in Berea, Kentucky.
Hughes named
to dean’s list
Sophia Hughes of Oak Ridge was named to the Fall 2025 Dean’s List at Berry College. The Dean’s List honors students who earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours. Berry College is in Rome, Georgia.
Local students named to Belmont dean’s list
Katie Kirstenpfad of Clinton and Ashlynn Stansberry of Norris were named to the Fall 2025 Dean’s List at Belmont University.
Dean’s List recognition is awarded to students who complete at least 12 credit hours and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher with no grade below a C. Belmont University is in Nashville.
Local students receive Roane State scholarships
The Roane State Community College Foundation awarded more than $525,000 in scholarships to 617 students for the 2025-26 academic year.
The awards include need- and achievement-based scholarships, as well as scholarships designated for specific programs and geographic areas.
Among the recipients are the following local students, listed alphabetically by city and by last name within each city.
• Mary Cooper of Andersonville received a Rotary Club of Oak Ridge Scholarship, a Roane State Foundation annual scholarship.
• Brooklyn Dugger of Briceville received a Rotary Club of Oak Ridge Scholarship, a Roane State Foundation annual scholarship.
• Students from Clinton recognized with scholarships include Abbigail Idles, Dr. Delorise Barnes Scholarship Endowment; Jadyn Thomas, Dr. Arthur C. Lee Memorial Scholarship; Johnathan Phelps, James D. Christmas Presidential Scholarship Endowment; Kayla Teter, Methodist Medical Center Scholarship; Lucas Fischesser, UT-Battelle Middle College Scholarship; Mackenzie Guyton, Methodist Medical Center Scholarship; Micah Stair, Methodist Medical Center Scholarship; Skyler West, Payam Rahmanian Memorial Scholarship; Tiffany Fritts, Stuart and Elaine Kent Adult Learner Scholarship Endowment; and Aaden Yarbrough, UT-Battelle Middle College Scholarship. All awards are Roane State Foundation annual scholarships.
