Anderson County Community Aid Coalition, formerly Anderson County Community Action Coalition, opened on Feb. 25 after reorganizing its office.
The office will stay at 149 N. Main St. in Clinton.
But Tammy Crowe, the organization’s director, said the new layout will be easier for picking things out.
Using the new layout will be a bit more like shopping, even though the items will be free.
“We are excited about this new chapter,” Crowe said.
“Our goal is simple: serve more people, more efficiently, and with greater dignity.”
The revamp included a full reorganization of the panty layout, improved client flow, updated shelving and display systems and expanded choice areas, she said.
“We are redesigning the space to function more like a small market, so clients can select items that best fit their household needs,” Crowe said.
“Previously, many items were pre-packed. With this redesign, clients will be able to walk through designated areas and choose from available food, clothing, and household essentials based on their family size and preferences.
“This restores dignity and allows families to select items they will actually use, she said.
The group is also working to spend more time with each client to better serve their needs outside the food pantry and set them up better with other organizations.
“Food insecurity continues to affect working families, seniors, and individuals on fixed incomes in Anderson County,” Crowe said.
Residents of Anderson County may contact the organization by phone or visit during open hours.
The group offers more-specific guidelines during intake.
