Organizers of the 34th annual Lunch for Literacy have announced that Kristy Woodson Harvey, a New York Times bestselling author of 14 novels and co-host of the weekly web show and podcast “Friends and Fiction,” will be the featured speaker.

The luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Oak Ridge High School.

Harvey’s works have received numerous honors, including Good Morning America’s Buzz Pick, Southern Living’s Most Anticipated Reads, and Katie Couric’s Featured Books.

Her writing has appeared in Southern Living, Parade, Traditional Home and USA Today.

Funds raised will support literacy initiatives in Oak Ridge and the surrounding community by awarding grants to projects proposed by schools and nonprofits.

“Attendees come to this event expecting to learn something important and be changed in some way,” said Altrusa member T.J. Cardwell. “It is also an opportunity to see longtime friends while helping our community. Every cent we make is invested back into the community as grants to improve literacy.”

TNBank, the 2026 presenting sponsor of Lunch for Literacy, will again present a scholarship to an Oak Ridge High School student.

Tickets are available for $60 at TNBank, 401 S. Illinois Ave., Oak Ridge.
