Foster launches re-election bid

Michael Foster
County Commissioner Michael Foster has announced his candidacy for re-election in the Republican primary on May 5, pledging to continue serving District 2 with integrity, faith and responsible leadership.

“For me, public service is a calling,” Foster said. “My faith teaches me that leadership is about stewardship — being faithful with what we are entrusted and serving others with humility and honesty. That is how I have approached every vote and every decision.”

During his time on the County Commission, Foster has been a champion of fiscal responsibility and government efficiency.

He has served on the Budget Committee, where he also has served as chairman, as well as on the Audit Committee and Operations Committee. In these roles, he has focused on protecting taxpayer dollars and strengthening accountability.

Believing that good stewardship requires wise management, Foster spearheaded efforts to consolidate committees and eliminate duplicative structures within county government.

These reforms reduced unnecessary bureaucracy, streamlined operations and ensured county government functions more effectively.

“Our citizens work hard for their money,” Foster said. “We have a moral responsibility to make sure government works hard, too.”

Foster’s experience in economic development and regional planning has also strengthened the commission’s ability to promote responsible growth while preserving the values and character of the community.

Active in the community and a committed man of faith, Foster says listening is central to leadership.

“Scripture teaches us to be quick to listen,” he said. “I believe the best decisions are made when we truly hear the concerns of the people we serve.”

Foster lives in Clinton with his wife, Katie, and their three children.
