Bottom order ignites for diamond Dragons
After dropping its first two games of the 2026 season, Clinton High School’s baseball team moved into the win column for the first time this year.
The Dragons received a big spark from the bottom third of their lineup in an 8-4 victory over Cumberland County in Crossville on Saturday afternoon.
Peyton Douglas led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. He scored one run and drove in another.
Colton Wright, Clinton’s No. 9 hitter, went 2-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base, while Bryson Douglas doubled, scored a run and stole a base. He also drove in a run for the Dragons, who finished with eight hits and scored four runs in the top of the second inning.
JP Robbins had a hit and drove in two runs for Clinton, while Jackson Webb singled, stole a base and scored twice.
On Thursday, the Dragons fell 11-4 to Northview Academy.
Will Brooks had two hits and scored a run, while Robbins doubled and drove in a run. Camden Britton also doubled in the contest, while Webb singled and scored two runs.
Clinton opened the season with a 10-6 loss to Lenoir City.
