Jonathan Sharp, who builds custom homes, has begun remodeling the first floor of the building at 316 Market St. in Clinton to serve as the offices for his business, Sharp Homes LLC.

The property’s owner, Traci Farley, obtained a building permit from the city of Clinton on Feb. 23 for a $15,000 “interior re-occupancy” project, listing Sharp as the builder.

Sharp said that he and his wife, Taya, will operate their business from that location, where they also will sell custom cabinets made by Heritage Cabinets out of Andersonville.

“I’m a custom homebuilder, and I also do pools, spas and luxury remodels,” he said.

He currently rents office space in the building with JD’s Realty & Auction at 134 South Main St., but said he will be giving that up when he moves into his new quarters, probably about April 1.

The 316 Market St. building was the longtime home of JD’s Realty & Auction until that company moved to the South Main Street location late last year.

Besides doing some painting, Sharp plans to have the walls and ceilings re-textured in the Market Street location in preparation for moving in.

He said there is about 1,500 square feet of space in the building.

Sharp is not renting the second floor of the building, which has a separate address of 320 Market St., with a separate entrance.

“I’ll do a turnkey build on any house,” Sharp said. “I’ve been a licensed general contractor in Tennessee since 2017. I started a handyman business before that.

“My wife and I have been around construction all our lives,” he said. “She has a really good eye for design. I’ll build the houses, and she helps the clients figure out what to put in them.”

Sharp grew up in Briceville, but now lives with his wife in Andersonville.

“My goal is to be the best custom homebuilder in this area,” he said.
