Dragons track delivers in two-meet week
Clinton High School had a busy week on the track heading into the holiday weekend.
The Dragons and Lady Dragons opened the week with a meet in Lenoir City on Tuesday, March 31, before closing out the week at the Roadrunner Invitational on Thursday. That meet was held in East Knoxville at Austin-East Magnet High School.
“We had a busy week,” Clinton Coach Tim Kumes said. “We had some good marks against some good competition in Lenoir City and then we went to Austin-East.
“We saw Austin-East and Fulton and you know they have some of the best sprinters in the state.”
For the Lady Dragons, Maliyah Drake finished second in the long jump with a leap of 13 feet, 11 inches. She also came in fourth in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 13.31 seconds.
Saviah Stewart finished second with a time of 27.92 seconds.
Kenzlee Hutchison, a senior, had a pair of top finishes in East Knoxville as she finished second in the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 4 inches.
Lily West finished third in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 48.16 seconds, and Isabella Morabito was third in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.37 seconds.
For the Dragons, freshman distance specialist Baylor Cool was fourth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:14.78 and took sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:22.02. Cooper Bostrom finished third in the 1,600 in 5:13.36.
In the 400-meter dash, Konner Bayliss was sixth in 56.76 seconds.
In the long jump, Dylan Alcott finished eighth with a leap of 15 feet, 4.5 inches.
