Bearden outslugs Lady Wildcats

Oak Ridge routs Harriman in non-district matchup

The 2026 softball season has been a difficult one for Oak Ridge High School, and the Lady Wildcats dropped a pair of District 4-4A games last week.

Oak Ridge fell to Hardin Valley Academy 10-2 early in the week.

“We just didn’t play very well against Hardin Valley,” Lady Wildcats Coach Jeremy Gill said.

On Thursday, Oak Ridge (5-13-1 overall, 1-9 in District 4-4A) dropped a 14-13 slugfest to Bearden in a rollercoaster contest.

“They had us down 11-4, and we came back, and then they walked us off,” Gill said. “When we score 12 or 13 runs, we should win the game.

“Our pitchers are doing the best they can, but they’re struggling, and right now, we don’t have that one shutdown pitcher.”

Offensively, the Lady Wildcats put up big numbers against the Lady Bulldogs.

Anslee Douglas had three hits, three RBIs and a run scored. She also clubbed a home run. Kylie Martin also homered for Oak Ridge. She finished with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Leah Curran went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Taylor Hensley doubled and drove in two runs.

Taryn McGuire was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored.

Oak Ridge closed out the week with a 14-2 victory over Harriman on Friday night in a non-district game.

In that contest, the Lady Wildcats collected 17 hits against the Lady Devils.

“Every time we hit the ball, it found a hole, and every time they hit a ball, it found a glove,” Gill said.

McGuire was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Bay Hensley had a solid outing in the circle. She pitched five innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits and three walks. She struck out seven. At the plate, Hensley went 3-for-5 and scored two runs.

Kaylee Prim was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Douglas had two hits and scored two runs. Amaiyah King had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
