CMS track piles up wins in Maynardville
The Clinton Middle School track and field teams delivered an impressive all-around performance Friday night in Maynardville, highlighted by multiple event victories, podium finishes and continued growth across the boys’ and girls’ programs.
On the boys’ side, Clinton’s speed was on full display.
Levi Braden led the way with a dominant outing, winning both the 100-meter dash in 12.33 seconds and the 200 in 25.25 to establish himself as one of the top sprinters in the field.
The Hawks also claimed a major victory in the 4x100-meter relay, as Bishop Demott, Matthew Crowe, Uriyah Pickett and Braden combined for a first-place finish in 50.26.
Pickett added another standout performance in the field events, winning the discus with a throw of 94 feet, 4 inches. Crowe contributed with a fourth-place finish in the long jump, while Clinton showed depth across the sprint and relay events.
The Hawks’ 4x200 relay team of Nathan Jackson, Jack Fairman-Hazuda, Uriah Mounce and Jacob Deel turned in a strong performance in its first time competing in the event this season.
“I’m so proud of my boys 4x200 relay team,” Coach Dorian Ewing said. “This was the first time they ran this event in a meet, and they did a great job.”
The girls team matched that energy with strong performances of its own.
Sophie Stainback claimed first place in the 100-meter hurdles in 20.09, while Brooklyn Daugherty turned in a standout day, finishing third in the 200 and winning the long jump.
Clinton also posted solid results in the field events, with Presley Ryan and Oakleigh Walsh finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, in the shot put.
Across the board, the Hawks showed both competitiveness and growth as they continue to build momentum early in the season.
With several athletes earning personal bests and gaining valuable meet experience, Clinton looks poised to keep improving as the season moves forward.
