Antique Festival to be Friday, Saturday

Downtown Clinton will again welcome dozens of vendors and thousands of guests to one of its biggest events as the 21th-annual Clinch River Spring Antique Festival takes over Market Street on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2.

The big downtown event will be held from noon-7 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Despite the construction work that has kept Market Street closed to vehicular traffic for more than a year, the usual festival street vendors and food trucks will be allowed to set up on Market Street.

The new sidewalks on both sides of Market Street in its entire length will be completed and ready for foot traffic, giving easy access to all of the Market Street stores, city officials said.

Presented by the Historic Downtown Clinton Merchants Association, there is no admission charge. Free parking is available in the city parking lots on Commerce Street and North Main at North Hicks streets.

Antique vendors will line Market Street rain or shine, and the downtown brick-and-mortar stores will be open to visitors, many offering specials for the event.

All of downtown loves to take part in the Spring Antique Festival, which kicks off the summer selling season for the downtown stores, and brings thousands of visitors – most of them from out of town – to Historic Downtown Clinton.

“Nobody does antiques quite like Clinton; just ask Martha Stewart!” says a post on the Historic Downtown Clinton website.

There will be craft and gardening demonstrations on Market and Main streets, along with some live entertainment.
