Aden Golden powered Clinton High School’s baseball team to a wild win in the final week of the regular season.

Golden’s big night at the plate helped the Dragons outlast Oliver Springs 21-13 in a slugfest Thursday, as Clinton split four games to close the regular season.

Against the Bobcats, Clinton pounded out 19 hits and was opportunistic as it also took advantage of five Oliver Springs errors.

Golden provided a big offensive spark for the Dragons as he went 3-for-4 with four runs, two RBIs, a home run and a double.

Will Brooks was 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and a run. Jackson Webb went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs. Camden Britton knocked in three runs and scored twice.

JP Robbins went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs, while Peyton Douglas had two hits, three runs and an RBI. Brennan Tipton came up with three hits, two RBIs and a run.

On Monday, April 20, Clinton opened its final district series of the season with a 9-7 win over Gibbs at Jaycee Park.

Golden went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs. Brooks came up with two hits and scored a run. Jaxon Young singled and drove in two runs, while Douglas doubled and scored.

Gibbs took the second game of the series Tuesday, April 21, claiming a 14-4 victory in a game that saw the Dragons commit six errors.

Golden kept swinging a hot bat against the Eagles, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Young and Brooks also had two hits. Brooks had an RBI and a run, while Young drove in a run.

The Dragons (10-18 overall, 4-4 in District 4-AAA) dropped their regular-season finale 8-0 at Seymour Friday night.

The Eagles, who won the District 3-AAA regular-season championship, held Clinton to four hits and took advantage of five defensive miscues.

Brooks, Colten Wright, Jake Rittenberry and Jackson Webb had hits for Clinton at Seymour.

The Dragons will return to action Thursday as they open the District 4-AAA tournament at Anderson County. They’ll play Gibbs at 5 p.m. Clinton is the No. 3 seed, while the Eagles are seeded second.
