Anderson County High School’s flag football team endured some hard times last week as it lost two games.

The Lady Mavericks opened the week with a 14-6 loss to Fulton in what was possibly a showdown for the region championship.

The Lady Falcons held ACHS’ high-scoring offense to just one touchdown, a scoring pass from Carly Whitson to Anaya Witkowski.

Later in the week, a fatigued Lady Mavericks squad made the trip to Cleveland and came up on the short end of a 46-0 decision.

“We played Fulton to a 14-6 game, and then we went to Cleveland and we couldn’t do anything on offense or defense,” Anderson County Coach Jonathan Cotton said.

“We were just exhausted, and you could see it when we got off the bus,” he said. “They had a team that had a lot of depth, and now, every game is a must-win for us.”
