Luttrell leads St. Mary’s golf title run
The St. Mary’s Middle School boys golf team captured the region championship early last week at Lakeside Golf Course in Kingston.
Britton Luttrell continued his dominant 2026 run, earning low medalist honors with a 2-over-par 37.
“Britton is undefeated this year,” Coach Shaun Parton said. “He’s won every tournament that he’s played in this year.”
The team is made up of players from St. Mary’s, Jefferson Middle School and Robertsville Middle School. Linden Elementary School fourth-grader Charlie Hay also played for the team this season.
Trevor Johnson shot a 45, while Titus Petrucci also carded a 45. Hay finished with a 50, and Michael Sweeney shot a 51.
St. Mary’s also had Natalie Muller qualify for the girls’ state tournament after she carded a 51 at the region tournament, which was on Monday, April 27.
St. Mary’s played in the state championships Monday at Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell. Results were not available at press time.
That was the team’s final competition of the season.
“They’re already wanting to get ready for next year, and they’re already wanting to know when we can start practicing,” Parton said. “I start practicing in January in the gym.
“I’m proud of these kids, but we couldn’t do this without the parents. They’re the ones who have to get the kids there.”
