Norris sets Aug. 12 as drawing date for 2026 Watershed hunting permits

The city of Norris has announced that the drawings for the limited Norris Municipal Watershed deer hunt permits will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m., and the drawing will begin at 2 p.m.

Those chosen in the drawings must pay $20 each to receive a permit.

There will be 110 archery permits and 75 shotgun/muzzleloader permits available.

The 2026 hunt dates are as follows:

• Archery Hunt: Oct. 10–18. The watershed gates will be open for vehicle access for scouting on Oct. 9.

• Shotgun/Muzzleloader Hunt: Nov. 21–29. The watershed gates will be open for vehicle access for scouting on Nov. 20.

• Youth Hunt: Dec. 12–13. A total of 35 youth hunt permits will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. More details to come at a later date.

The Norris Municipal Watershed is open year-round, and hunters may enter on foot to scout at any time. Hunters do not need to wait until the day before a scheduled hunt to scout.

Vehicle access is limited to designated periods.

Hunters wishing to drive into the watershed for scouting must wait until the gates are opened on the day before the Archery Hunt and the Shotgun/Muzzleloader Hunt.
