Rams ready to reset
But for new Head Coach Sean Miller, last season is already in the rearview mirror.
“We don’t talk about last year,” said Miller, who inherits a team that struggled in 2025 after winning the Tennessee Valley Athletic Conference championship in 2024.
The Rams will open the season Thursday, Aug. 6, when they travel to Anderson County High School to face Norris in a game featuring the past two TVAC champions.
For Miller and his new team at Robertsville, expectations are simple in 2026.
“Compete from start to finish,” he said. “Our expectation is to compete to the best of our ability.
“It’s very simple.”
Miller may be new to Robertsville, but he’s relying on his coaching staff, including veteran Rams Coach Tyler Carr.
Carr, a former head coach at RMS, served as an assistant under the late Ron Gray in 2024. He was interim head coach last season after Gray suffered a stroke.
Miller is not a teacher at Robertsville, but Carr is on campus.
“I’ve got a great group of coaches,” Miller said. “He’s my right hand, and he’s my assistant head coach. I told him that he would have to stay if I was going to be the head coach.
“It’s good for me to have him because he knows the kids [who] may not know me. He’s also a big help because he’s in the building, and I don’t teach at Robertsville.”
Miller comes to Robertsville from the Boys and Girls Club in Oak Ridge.
“I know a lot of these kids,” Miller said. “I coached a lot of them at the Boys and Girls Club, and I acquired several championships.”
Miller said the Rams have talent, and the preseason has been about changing the team’s mindset.
“We don’t think about last year,” he said. “We’re focused on what we have to do right now.
“If we’re focused on what we need to do and on the fundamentals, then the scoreboard will take care of itself. These kids are hungry.”
The majority of Robertsville’s players are seventh-0graders.
Top returners for the Rams include Amarii Porter, an eighth-grade running back and linebacker; Caleb Malone, a seventh-grade quarterback; Kaito Slater, an eighth-grade cornerback; Landon Carter, an eighth-grade wide receiver; Lyndin Booker, an eighth-grade wide receiver; and Zayden Lee, a seventh-grade defensive back.
Key newcomers include Charles Huddleston, a seventh-grade running back, and Carter Sheehan, an eighth-grade linebacker.
