Community band sets Labor Day concert

The concert, scheduled for the day before Labor Day, will begin at 7 p.m. The audience is encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for outdoor seating. A paved area is available for wheelchair access.
As with all Oak Ridge Community Band concerts, admission is free.
Directed by conductor Bill Kerr, the band will perform a variety of songs for all ages. Selections will include “Curtain Up,” a medley of Broadway favorites; “Walt Disney Band Showcase”; “Pirates of the Caribbean”; Dolly Parton’s “Nine to Five”; W.C. Handy’s “Beale Street Blues”; and Irving Berlin’s “Alexander’s Ragtime Band.”
The Oak Ridge Community Band is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the community with free concerts throughout the year.
The band rehearses every Thursday evening at First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. Area musicians interested in joining may contact the band at oakridgecommunityband@gmail.com.
