Dragons show progress ahead of final jamboree

The Dragons picked up valuable game action against host Rhea County, Bradley Central and Coahulla Creek.
Clinton second-year Coach Jake Dawson was upbeat following his squad’s second dress rehearsal for the new season.
“I thought we played well,” Dawson said. “We saw some great teams. We saw Rhea County and we saw Coahulla, and they’re a good team from Dalton, Georgia.
“We played hard, and I think things looked a little better than they did in our first scrimmage (against Knoxville’s Grace Christian Academy on Friday, July 31).
“We had some good performances by (quarterback) Mason Eckerson, Gabe Sanders at defensive tackle, linebacker Charlie Turbyville and wide receiver Hayden Ferguson,” he said.
The Dragons will have one more tune-up before the regular season kicks off Aug. 21.
Clinton will be in action at the Roane County High School football jamboree at Harriman High School on Friday.
The event gets underway at 6 p.m.
Clinton will play a pair of one-quarter games.
The Dragons will take on Oliver Springs at 7:45 p.m. before closing the evening with a showdown against Midway at 8:15.
