Meredith seeks council seat
Rick Meredith
Meredith has served in leadership roles focused on community development and public service for more than 30 years. He currently serves as president of the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce.
Meredith also served with the state of Tennessee as assistant commissioner of the Community Development Division for the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. In this capacity, he oversaw the Main Street, Retire Tennessee and Three-Star programs, along with initiatives related to energy policy, local planning, and grants and loans. He also served as president of County Officials of Tennessee.
Before joining state government, Meredith served as Anderson County register of deeds. During his tenure, he was named Tennessee’s Register of the Year in 1996 and was elected president of the Tennessee Registers Association by his fellow registers that same year.
Meredith also served three terms on the Anderson County Commission, where he contributed to the Insurance Trustee’s Committee, Budget Committee, Operations Committee, Legislative Committee, Agriculture Committee and other key areas.
He remains actively involved in the community, serving on the boards of directors for Historic Downtown Clinton and Emory Valley Center, as well as the Anderson County Tourism Council and the Education Foundation for Clinton City and Anderson County Schools.
He is also an active member of the Clinton Rotary Club and previously served on the board of directors for the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce Executives.
Throughout his career, Meredith has received numerous recognitions for his leadership and service. He was named Tennessee’s State Executive of the Year for the Chamber of Commerce in 2018. That same year, he accepted the Chancellor’s Award on behalf of the Chamber for its work on the Roane State/TCAT facility in Clinton.
In 2017, the Meredith family was inducted into the 4-H & Agriculture Hall of Fame. Meredith has also been inducted into the Clinton Wall of Fame at Clinton High School, recognizing his accomplishments and contributions to his community. In 2022, he was honored with the Clinton Good Scout Award.
“I believe my experience in government at different levels, combined with my work with businesses and industry, can help Clinton successfully manage the growth our city is facing,” Meredith said.
“While our city is doing well financially, we should establish both short- and long-term goals for employee pay raises, Clinton City Schools, Parks and Recreation, and Historic Downtown Clinton.”
Meredith attended the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service and is a certified public administrator. A lifelong resident of Anderson County, he resides in Clinton with his wife, KK. Together, they have six children and 11 grandchildren.
