Lakefront Splash pad still open
The city of Clinton’s outdoor pool and splashpad at Jaycee Park closed for the season on Sept. 7.
However, the splashpad at Lakefront Park, 140 S Charles G. Seivers Blvd will remain open as long as the area continues having warm weather. This will include, weather permitting seven days a week, even during school hours. The city plans to give updates on social media about weather related closures.
City recreation programs coordinator Taylor Cullison told The Courier News that she felt the Jaycee Park pool had a good season, the first full season with the smaller pool and new splash pad with good attendance and pool parties.
Cullison explained the Lakefront Park splashpad was staying open due to the lack of need for a full time staff to monitor restrooms or work as lifeguards. She said many lifeguards are going back to school now.
Splashpads, she said, appealed to all kinds of children.
“I do see a lot of younger and older kids as well as kids with disabilities,” she said, adding that children with disabilities may not be able to enter pools but can enjoy the water dumped from a splash pad’s bucket.
“People of all ages and abilities can use a splash pad if they’re unable to get in the water.”
