Townsend running for council

Andrea Townsend
My connection to Clinton began at just 15 years old, when I started my first job working with the city of Clinton’s after-school program. That early experience taught me the value of serving others and showed me how much a community can impact the lives of its young people.
My career has continued to center around children, families, and community.
I previously served as a SPED Inclusion Teacher at Clinton Elementary, where I had the privilege of working alongside students, families, teachers, and staff to help children reach their potential.
Today, I serve as the director of Isaiah 117 House Anderson, where I continue that mission of supporting children and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
These experiences have shaped the way I see leadership.
I believe leadership is about listening, building relationships, earning trust, being willing to serve, and stepping into the hard. It is about understanding where we have been while preparing thoughtfully for where we are going.
My vision for Clinton is simple: protect what we love, plan for what’s ahead, and build a future our children will be proud to call home.
I want to help keep Clinton affordable by being financially responsible with taxpayer dollars, prioritizing essential services, spending wisely, and looking for ways to strengthen our tax base without simply asking residents to pay more.
I believe we can welcome responsible, positive growth without losing the character that makes Clinton special. Our history, traditions, neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and community events are worth protecting. Growth should strengthen Clinton not change the qualities that make it home.
I also believe our young people deserve a voice. I would like to work toward creating a Teen Council that gives Clinton’s youth an opportunity to learn about local government, participate in community service, identify issues that matter to them, and play a meaningful role in their community.
Ultimately, I want Clinton to be a place where families can put down roots, businesses can thrive, young people can see a future, and longtime residents can recognize the community they love.
