Luttrell leads Oak Ridge at region match

After qualifying for region play last week at Beaver Brook Golf Course, the Oak Ridge High School girls golf team shot a 214 to finish fifth at the region tournament Monday, Sept. 28, at Island Pointe Golf Club in Kodak.

Lady Wildcats Lily Grace Langenberg shot a 105, Brynn Green carded a 109 and Marissa Patch finished with a 112.

At the district tournament last week, Langenberg shot a 102, Green finished with a 105 and Patch carded a 107.

On the boys side, individual qualifiers Britten Luttrell and Kaleb Jackson also competed at the region tournament after advancing from the district tournament at Beaver Brook.

Luttrell shot an 80 at the region tournament, while Jackson finished with a 95. At the district tournament, Luttrell shot a 74 and Jackson carded an 80.

“I thought Britten held up really well shooting an 80,” ORHS Coach Scott Hinton said. “He was in the first group this morning at 8 o’clock, and he’s a freshman, so he’s going to do nothing but learn from this experience and grow and get better.

“Britten was our No. 1 player all year, and for him to shoot 74 (at district) and go on to the region in his first year being with us is a big accomplishment,” Hinton added. “He’s played really, really solid.”
